Pine Warbler Sighted

Filed under Bird Sightings, Pine Warbler by

Today My hanging bird feeder had a new visitor!

The Pine Warbler. I have seen these little warblers several times but today was the first time I saw one at my hanging bird feeder! What an awesome coloring this little Warbler has!

They get the name Pine Warbler because they often live in pine trees, building their nests in the highest branches so they can be concealed by predators.

I often see them flying about in the tops of the Myrtle trees in my backyard. These trees bloom small flowers at the top which attract insects by the thousands. The Pine Warbler will sit in the top amongst the flowers and dart back and forth filling it’s belly with insects. They are very fast and I have had a difficult time getting a picture until this one decided to eat some seeds from my hanging bird feeder.
